Surge in Behavioral Health Participation in The Network

Published On: July 29, 2016

The Network continues to see a surge in participation with the number of behavioral health providers now surpassing the number of community providers, bringing our current Network participants to a total of 187.

The growth in behavioral health providers is the result of a statewide plan to integrate physical and behavioral health in the statewide health information exchange (HIE), supported by Arizona’s three regional behavioral health authorities (RBHAs).

The RBHAs – Mercy Maricopa Integrated Care, Health Choice Integrated Care and Cenpatico Integrated Care – have made a significant investment in this plan that is connecting behavioral health providers to the statewide HIE and integrating access to physical and behavioral health information into workflows and clinical decision making.

“It is important for physical and behavioral health providers not only to be able to access and share health information through The Network but also to incorporate the information into workflows and clinical decision making for patients,” said Melissa Kotrys, CEO, AzHeC. “This will assist our Network providers in filling gaps in care by providing a more comprehensive patient record,” said Kotrys.

The Network is also seeing a significant uptick in utilization. The most recent numbers show 7.0 million transactions per month and clinical data on 6.2 million patients. The Network today has data on more than 90% of hospital inpatient discharges and emergency department visits. See Network by the Numbers.
