iPN Connects More Than 40 Clinic Locations to CORHIO, Enhancing Providers’ Ability to Provide High-Quality, Patient-Centered Care
DENVER, Colo. – December 19, 2012 – CORHIO announced today that it has successfully connected 21 iPN member practices, including more than 40 medical clinic sites, to its secure health information exchange (HIE) network. iPN is a multispecialty, clinically integrated network of physicians and medical clinics that use a shared electronic health record (EHR) system. By connecting their EHR to CORHIO, iPN providers now have more complete and up-to-date patient information at their fingertips, allowing them to more efficiently and effectively manage their patients’ care.
“We believe we are accountable to deliver superior care to our patients and through our aggregate EHR data, we strive to better understand our community’s health needs around screening and prevention, and those people with chronic illnesses such as diabetes,” said Dr. David Ehrenberger, chief medical officer of iPN and chief medical officer at Avista Adventist Hospital.
More than 200 physicians and other care providers across more than 40 clinic sites participate in the iPN throughout the Denver-Boulder area. The following iPN practices are now connected to the CORHIO HIE:
- Avista Women’s Care – Lafayette, Louisville, Erie
- Belmar Family Medicine – Lakewood
- Boulder Neurosurgical Associates – Boulder, Lousiville, Lafayette, Longmont, Brighton
- Boulder Valley Women’s Health Center – Boulder
- Broomfield Family Practice – Broomfield
- Chaffee Family Physicians, PC – Denver
- Clinica Family Health Services – Boulder, Denver, Lafayette, Thornton, Federal Heights

- Flatirons Internal Medicine – Louisville
- Flatirons Pediatrics – Louisville
- Garrison Family Physicians, PC – Lakewood
- Front Range Surgical Associates – Westminster
- Orthopedic Professional Association – Louisville, Boulder

“A significant amount of our patient information comes from sources outside of our provider network, such as regional community hospitals, labs and imaging centers,” explained Dr. Ehrenberger. “That’s why we are so excited to be a part of the HIE; it is launching us into a new era and taking us to the next level of proactive population health management.”
With their connection to CORHIO, iPN providers have the ability to seamlessly and electronically access their patients’ clinical data across disparate systems outside of their local network with Centura Health hospitals and other regional providers—including Boulder Community Hospital, Longmont United Hospital and other health care providers in the region. iPN providers can easily access the patient data via their EHR system. When necessary for patient care, CORHIO provides physicians and other medical care providers with secure access to important clinical information, including lab test and pathology results, x-ray, MRI and other imaging reports, and physician transcription reports. In the future, the HIE is scheduled to be upgraded to include additional data types and functionality.
“We’re excited to have one of the state’s largest physician networks connected to the CORHIO HIE,” said Larry Wolk, MD, CORHIO’s chief executive officer. “The health care providers at iPN are part of our rapidly growing network of providers across the state that includes outpatient clinics, hospitals, long-term and post-acute care facilities, laboratories and behavioral health centers. More and more providers are realizing that the adoption of HIE is a necessary step to effectively communicate and collaborate. And with better care coordination, providers can enhance quality of care and improve patient outcomes.”
